FitLabPGH Features- Lisa Boksenbaum

FitLabPGH is a podcast about movement and movement opportunities in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  Once a week we also highlight a FitLabPGH mover…someone who understands that movement is a lifestyle…not just an activity.  The questions are lightly edited to allow for easy readability.

This Week: Lisa Boksenbaum

Are you a Pittsburgh native? If not, what brought you to the Pittsburgh area?  Born in Pittsburgh; moved to Northern California at age 12; looked for “home” in Seattle, Scottsdale, Los Angeles, and Ft. Lauderdale; moved back to Pittsburgh 5 years ago.

What are your three favorite movement activities in the Pittsburgh area?  Walking on Montour Trail; Hiking in Mingo Creek Park; and working out at the Fitness Lab in Canonsburg

Describe your fantasy movement-focused vacation…cost is not an object…where do you go and what do you do?  European hiking vacation – especially, England, Ireland, and Italy

What is your go-to weekday breakfast? Your weekend breakfast?  Egg bake with chicken Italian sausage- weekdays and weekends…although lately, I’ve been eating lentil soup for breakfast…I know…it’s strange…

What is your favorite thing to eat in Pittsburgh? Note: it does not need to be healthy.  Unhealthy: Millie’s ice cream. Healthy: beet salad with salmon at Vilka Bistro in Bethel Park

What is the most unusual and/or challenging movement activity you’ve done? Would you do it again?  Challenging: Hiked Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, AZ (Going down the mountain was more difficult than going up!). Absolutely, I’d do it again!

What movement activity/event are you looking forward to in the next year?  Snow shoeing this winter…and getting back into tennis in the Spring

Would you rather go scuba diving or skydiving?  Neither, but if FORCED (we’re talking “gun to the head” situation) to do one, then scuba diving

What is your favorite recovery or self-care practice?  Massage…but acupuncture is a close second

What is the one place visitors to Pittsburgh “must” see?  View from Mt Washington…but if they have time…Ohiopyle
