FitLabPGH Features 31:19 Dino & Kita

FitLabPGH is a podcast about movement and movement opportunities in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  Once a week we also highlight a FitLabPGH mover…someone who understands that movement is a lifestyle…not just an activity.  The questions are lightly edited to allow for easy readability.  Click FitLabPGH Features for more info if you want to be featured/know someone who should be featured.

This Week: Dino & Kita

Are you a Pittsburgh native? If not, what brought you to the Pittsburgh area?
Dino (D): No, I moved here from England after my old mom had to move away.

Kita (K): I come from West Virginia and my human rescued me from a shelter

What are your three favorite movement activities in the Pittsburgh area?
D: Running in the woods, walking in the creek and playing with my favorite ball

K: Running, playing and chasing

Describe your fantasy movement-focused vacation…cost is not an object…where do you go and what do you do?
D: I would like an air-conditioned room where I have a nice bed with a pillow and lots of treats, and I get to chew on my favorite ball. Then when the mood hits, I get to go outside walk in the woods, play in the creek and go home and sleep.

K: I love to be in a big field where I can run and chase anything that moves such as turkeys, rabbits, deer, etc…

What is your go-to weekday breakfast? Your weekend breakfast?
D: I like a mixture of dry and wet food.

K: Dry kibble mixed with wet food

What is your favorite thing to eat in Pittsburgh? Note: it does not need to be healthy.
D: toast with butter

K: I love bacon!!! Only get that at my human’s sister’s house

What is the most unusual and/or challenging movement activity you’ve done? Would you do it again?
D: I have tried jumping across a small creek but due to my bad hips, it wasn’t easy. Maybe next time I’ll walk through.

K: I am very good at standing on two feet. I can even balance on two feet in a sitting position in a moving car on the armrest when I see something outside.

What movement activity/event are you looking forward to in the next year?
D: Taking off leash walks in the woods

K: More running in the woods

Would you rather go scuba diving or skydiving?
D: Neither. I do not like heights and have not tried swimming.

K: Hmm don’t know what that is

What is your favorite recovery or self-care practice?
D: Sleeping

K: Sleep

What is the one place visitors to Pittsburgh “must” see?
D: I haven’t seen much yet so not sure just yet.

K: The woods
