FitLabPGH is a podcast about movement and movement opportunities in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Once a week we also highlight a FitLabPGH mover…someone who understands that movement is a lifestyle…not just an activity. The questions are lightly edited to allow for easy readability. Click FitLabPGH Features for more info if you want to be featured/know someone who should be featured.
This Week: Sara Angelilli
Are you a Pittsburgh native? If not, what brought you to the Pittsburgh area? I am a Pittsburgh native and I love everything about this city!
What are your three favorite movement activities in the Pittsburgh area? Running (of course!), yoga, and white water rafting
Describe your fantasy movement-focused vacation…cost is not an object…where do you go and what do you do? I would go to the Caribbean for zip lining….Might not be movement focused but definitely an adventure. Tropical locations are always great for running and water sports.
What is your go-to weekday breakfast? Your weekend breakfast? My weekday breakfasts are always on the go. My top two picks are overnight oats or a perfect bar. On the weekend when I have more time, I enjoy over easy eggs with prosciutto wrapped asparagus.
What is your favorite thing to eat in Pittsburgh? Note: it does not need to be healthy. There are so many amazing restaurants in Pittsburgh but I have to say that may favorite is the avocado toast, cashew yogurt and a delicious latte from B52 in Lawrenceville. I go there for brunch every chance I get!
What is the most unusual and/or challenging movement activity you’ve done? Would you do it again? I think that it would be aerial silks yoga. It was amazing and I would absolutely do it again!
What movement activity/event are you looking forward to in the next year? I have so many “favorite” races but the one that I cannot miss is the EQT 10 miler. I have run it every year since the event started.
Would you rather go scuba diving or skydiving? Scuba diving – for sure!
What is your favorite recovery or self-care practice? Self care is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. I think that we miss so much in the hustle of day to day life. My favorite self care practice is meditation. Getting quiet and giving myself time away from social media and distractions really helps me to perform better in all other areas of my life.
What is the one place visitors to Pittsburgh “must” see? So many options! My favorite place to go in Pittsburgh is Phipp’s Conservatory. It’s so relaxing.
