FitLabPGH Features 10:20 Barrett Kuhn

FitLabPGH is a podcast about movement and movement opportunities in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  Once a week we also highlight a FitLabPGH mover…someone who understands that movement is a lifestyle…not just an activity.  The questions are lightly edited to allow for easy readability.  Click FitLabPGH Features for more info if you want to be featured/know someone who should be featured.

This Week: Barrett Kuhn

Are you a Pittsburgh native? If not, what brought you to the Pittsburgh area? I am not technically a Pittsburgh native but I did complete High School here at Chartiers Valley. I moved back post grad when I was offered an amazing opportunity with the Steelers’ corporate events department.

What are your three favorite movement activities in the Pittsburgh area? Elevate Fusion Fitness, Boxing, and taking walks with my hubby

Describe your fantasy movement-focused vacation…cost is not an object…where do you go and what do you do? I would love to travel to several latin countries and dance/learn to dance with the locals!

What is your go-to weekday breakfast? Your weekend breakfast? we are big egg people… omelets, avocado toast topped with eggs, or my husbands weekend favorite breakfast sandwiches

What is your favorite thing to eat in Pittsburgh? Note: it does not need to be healthy. We love DiAnoia’s! Their roasted cauliflower is AMAZING!

What is the most unusual and/or challenging movement activity you’ve done? Would you do it again? Salsa dancing… and yes!!!! I love dancing but I am especially in love with latin music. My husband bought me lessons for Christmas!

What movement activity/event are you looking forward to in the next year? Trying different latin dances and using those skills to dance in Spain in July!

Would you rather go scuba diving or skydiving? sky diving

What is your favorite recovery or self-care practice? I love soaking in a hot bath with epsom salts and essential oils

What is the one place visitors to Pittsburgh “must” see? Everyone knows about the amazing and iconic views from Mount Wash, but I feel that you can get a true feel for Pittsburgh walking up and down The Strip District- Especially on a Steeler Sunday.
