FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 17:22 Take Time to Enjoy the Journey

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Take time to enjoy the journey.

As Labradors, we love to move…on any terrain…at any speed. We know it’s not ALL about the pace. If we obsess about pace, we might avoid hills…and we certainly wouldn’t take time to enjoy a “Summit Celebration” with our human…and hills and celebrations are some of the best parts of hiking!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, take time to enjoy the journey. Whether you’re hiking, biking, walking, or running, enjoy the experience. Of course, if you’re training for a race, pace is a factor…but outside of training sessions, try to find time to move for the sake of moving…take the hill…explore a new trail (even if it slows you down)…get outside and enjoy the experience of moving!

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 16:22 Consistency is Key

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Consistency is Key.

As Labradors, we love to move…every day, no matter the weather. But we know that sometimes weather, or the obligations of our humans, prevent us from hitting our movement goals…and that’s ok…as long as we consistently make movement part of our lifestyle.

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, don’t make hitting 100% of your movement goals a source of distress in your life. Consistently prioritize making movement part of your lifestyle, and you will reap physical and mental health benefits. Make time for movement; make time for rest and recovery; make time for you.

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Set your boundaries.

As Labradors, we are naturally social. We enjoy walking our humans and lounging with our feline roommates. But every now and then, we need some alone time (and so do the cats)…and that’s ok!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, don’t feel guilty about setting boundaries. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Make time for movement; make time for rest and recovery; make time for you.

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 14:22 Build Your Wellness Team

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Build Your Wellness Team.

As Labradors, our human is in charge of building our wellness team, which consists of an excellent veterinarian and responsible pet sitters for those occasions when our human needs to travel without us. As humans, you’ll probably need a larger team, including medical professionals, who help keep your mental and physical health on track.

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, do your research when building your wellness team. We hear that some humans spend more time shopping for a car than they spend “shopping” for a doctor, veterinarian, or personal trainer. If you’re planning to put your health and wellness in someone’s hands, do your homework. Seek out professionals who are both qualified AND a good fit for your needs.
