No FitLabPGH Podcast Release 10-28-18 #Pittsburghstrong

In light of the tragedy yesterday in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh it didn’t seem right to release a FitLabPGH podcast the next day.  Sometimes it is time to stop moving and reflect.  This is one of those times.  Our thoughts go out to the victims’ families and friends.  We’ll be back with a new episode next week. #Pittsburghstrong

What is a Podcast?

For 3+ months FitLabPGH has been bringing you weekly podcast interviews about events, organizations, businesses and people in the Pittsburgh area that understand movement is part of what makes life complete.  A question we are often asked is what is a podcast?”.

The easy answer is that a podcast is like a YouTube video, except it is audio.  A better answer is that it is an audio file that you can listen to by streaming it to your phone or computer…or download via a variety of apps (mobile devices) or programs (computers).  With most podcasts (FitLabPgh is part of most) you can subscribe to the podcast and be notified when a new episode is release.

There are literally 1000’s of podcasts and just about any topic you can imagine.  You can search for them via sites such as iTunes, Stitcher and GooglePlay.  Podcasts are usually free.  They are a way to be entertained and get information while you are doing other things.  If you listen to music while you exercise or commute then consider adding podcasts to your listening repertoire.

FitLabPGH podcast is a greater podcast to listen to if you are active.  It is weekly- a new interview each week, and each episode is ~25-30 minutes.  You can check out our latest podcast at www.fitlabpgh.blubrry.com.  If you want to subscribe then check out the variety of ways to be notified of a new episode each week- www.fitlabpgh.blubrry.com/subscribe-to-podcast/.

Coming in 2017 Moving2Live, a sister podcast of FitLabPGH

We are currently working on getting our new podcast Moving2Live ready to launch in early 2017.  FitLabPGH is all about exploring people, businesses and activities in the PGH area that recognize movement is part of making your life complete.

Moving2Live is also a movement based podcast.  We will be interviewing fitness and movement professionals from across the US and world.  Each interview will be divided into two parts.  One part will be professional to professional.  The second part will emphasize information from the  fitness and movement professional that can be utilized by professionals and people who make movement a priority.

Just like FitLabPGH Moving2Live will publish weekly podcast interviews short enough to make you want to listen, but long enough to give you great information.  We’ll make sure you know when Moving2Live launches.  Thanks for listening to FitLabPGH, we’re really enjoying interviewing PGHers who understand movement is part of making your life complete.

Next week- the first episode!!

Our first podcast will be released early next week.  It’s an interview with the race directors of Hell on Hills, a 5 km run in Beechview.  It’s a really neat race that gives you a chance to see the South Hills and remember why being outside in the fall is so great.  We think it’s clear that the people putting on this race are excited about movement and contributing to their community, and we can’t wait to be in Beechview on Oct 15!!

Our goal is to release a podcast each week that will last 15-30 minutes.  It’ll take a couple of weeks for it to be on iTunes, but until then you can find new episodes at http://fitlabpgh.blubrry.com/ .

Please follow us on Twitter- @fitlabpgh .  If you’ve got an idea for an interview- an interesting small business, a cool adventure you’re undertaking or something that you think fits the FitLabPgh idea that movement is part of making your life complete, then drop us a line at fitlabpgh@gmail.com
