FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 38:22 Don’t Worry About How You Look…Just Keep Moving

Labrador Lesson for 9/22/22:

Don’t worry about what you look like…just keep moving.

From Maggie the Black Lab: as Labradors, we love to move. At the moment, I’m a bit embarrassed because I have a skin infection on my head (probably a result of scratching due to allergies). My humans took me to the vet. I’m getting treatment, and I’ll be ok, but they had to shave a few spots on my head, so I’m not looking my best. But I’m not going to let that stop me from enjoying my walks in the park!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, don’t worry about what you look like, or whether others might judge you, just move! Whether it’s a physical condition, or a lack of the latest gear, or just a fear of looking awkward, try not to worry about appearances…just move. Movement has physical and mental benefits for 2- and 4-legged movers!

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 22:22 Movement is a Lifestyle

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Movement is a Lifestyle.

As Labradors, we love to move, whether we’re hiking/jogging, taking a recovery day stroll, or casually playing around in the backyard. Our cat roommates also like move and play. While we don’t attend structured “workouts,” we all make movement part of our lifestyle.

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, make time to “just” move. Workouts and scheduled activities are great, but make time for unstructured movement in between your planned workouts. Take a stroll through the woods or a local park. Take an extra walk with your dog(s). Do a little mobility work before bed. Make time for a casual bike ride. Just Move.

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 18:22 You Don’t Need a Special Occasion to Move

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

You don’t need a special occasion to move.

As Labradors, we love to move…on any terrain…at any speed…in almost any weather (full disclosure: we don’t love hot, humid days). We don’t wait for a Doggy Dash 5k or National Walk Your Dog Day to take our humans out for a walk/hike/jog…we make daily movement part of our lifestyle, year-round.
Whether you have 2 legs or 4, don’t wait for an event or special occasion…get moving today. Find an activity you enjoy, then make time to move. Hate running? Take a walk! Explore a local park by hiking the trails. Grab a helmet and go for a bike ride. We understand some humans prefer indoor movement…that’s ok; our cats are like that…climb the walls, do some mobility work…just move!

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 17:22 Take Time to Enjoy the Journey

Have you heard the news from the FitLabPGH Labs??? We’ve introduced Labrador Lessons from the FitLabPGH Podcast! Every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you wisdom from the FitLabPGH Labradors (with occasional input from the cats).

Take time to enjoy the journey.

As Labradors, we love to move…on any terrain…at any speed. We know it’s not ALL about the pace. If we obsess about pace, we might avoid hills…and we certainly wouldn’t take time to enjoy a “Summit Celebration” with our human…and hills and celebrations are some of the best parts of hiking!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, take time to enjoy the journey. Whether you’re hiking, biking, walking, or running, enjoy the experience. Of course, if you’re training for a race, pace is a factor…but outside of training sessions, try to find time to move for the sake of moving…take the hill…explore a new trail (even if it slows you down)…get outside and enjoy the experience of moving!
