FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 2:23 Don’t Over-Complicate Your Routines

Labrador Lesson for 1-13-23 (Scroll down to the YouTube video or read the lesson below):

Don’t over-complicate your routines.

Happy Friday the 13th! We hope your 2023 is off to a great start. Whether you’re working to incorporate New Year’s goals or resolutions into your lifestyle or just settling back into your routine after the disruption of the holidays, we (the Labradors) have a suggestion: Keep It Simple. We practice what we preach, our daily routine is: Eat, Sleep, Move…Repeat. We know you humans have more responsibilities than we do…we’re not working dogs…but if you want to stick to a health and wellness routine, it needs to be simple enough that you won’t get overwhelmed and give up. So figure out what you NEED to do, then add what you WANT to do, and make it sufficiently simple that you can do it consistently.

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, don’t over-complicate your health and wellness routine. Create a simple routine that you can maintain, consistently, throughout the year.

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 1:23 Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

Labrador Lesson for 1-6-23 (Scroll down to the YouTube video or read the lesson below):

Don’t compare your movement practice to the practices of others.

Happy New Year! As Labradors, we appreciate our daily movement practice. We don’t compare ourselves to working dogs or dogs who frequently visit off-leash dog parks. We enjoy hiking with our humans, who we keep on leash for their safety. But we understand that humans have a tendency to compare themselves to the influencers who fill their social media feeds. Our advice? Stop! Don’t compare your daily movement practice to someone else’s social media highlight reel! Find movement that you enjoy, that fits into your lifestyle, and repeat consistently!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, making movement part of your lifestyle is good for body and mind. Choose movement you like to do. Then keep moving. And move more. Most importantly, move for yourself, not just for likes on social media.

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 52:22 Resolve to Make Movement Part of Your Lifestyle

Labrador Lesson for 12-30-22 (watch the YouTube video below or just read on):

If you make New Year’s Resolutions, resolve to make movement part of your lifestyle.

As Labradors, we don’t make New Year’s Resolutions…and we like to move every day, in almost any weather…but we understand that humans often wrap up a year by making resolutions for the next year. If you’re one of those humans, we suggest you resolve to make movement a lifestyle…for yourself and your 4-legged friends. Schedule time to move, in ways that you enjoy, on most days. The movement sessions don’t need to be “killer workouts”…just move!

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, making movement part of your lifestyle is good for body and mind. So if you’re looking for a New Year’s Resolution, resolve to Move More!

FitLabPGH Lab Lessons 47:22 Happy Thanksgiving

Labrador Lesson for 11-24-22:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Three things we’re thankful for as Labradors: 1) Cooler weather for trail hikes with less risk of overheating or tick encounters; 2) regular walks with our humans; and 3) the chance that the humans will drop pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) on the floor during Thanksgiving prep

Whether you have 2 legs or 4, take a moment today (and every day) to appreciate the positive things in your life. We wish you a happy, healthy, safe, movement-filled Thanksgiving!
